About Dr. Monique Smith
She’s a Harvard-trained anthropologist and emergency physician with expertise in ethnography and health systems strengthening.
She’s the Founding Director of Health DesignED: The Acute Care Design + Innovation Center.
She has worked on global health issues for 15+ years.
She uses design thinking to solve healthcare systems problems and create health equity.
In previous lives, Dr. Smith has led the design of a tech-enabled primary care practice for the Medicare population… launched a virtual care platform culturally connecting women with physicians… and been an advisor to a digital health venture utilizing telemedicine in the Caribbean to improve access to healthcare at the last mile.
